Refund Policy & Cancellation

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Legacy TCG Ltd T/A Legacy Card And Comic Book Grading

Effective Date: 14 September 2025

1. About Us

Legacy TCG Ltd, trading as Legacy Card And Comic Book Grading (referred to as “Legacy”, “we”, “us” or “our”), provides independent trading card and comic book grading, authentication, encapsulation, custom artwork labels and related services.

Our grading services include condition assessment, authentication, grading reports, encapsulation and other features applicable to the service purchased.

By placing an order or submitting items to Legacy, you agree to this Refund & Cancellation Policy and our applicable Terms & Conditions, subject to your statutory rights.

Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By placing an order or submitting items to Legacy, you acknowledge that:

  • You have been given access to this Refund & Cancellation Policy and our applicable Terms & Conditions.
  • Grading involves professional assessment and expert opinion.
  • Grades and subgrades represent our professional opinion at the time of assessment.
  • Grading, authentication, custom labelling and encapsulation involve work that may not be reversible once performed.
  • Cancellation and refund rights are subject to the terms of this policy and applicable UK consumer law.

Where required, we will obtain your express consent before commencing services during a statutory cancellation period.

Acceptance of our Terms & Conditions does not remove any statutory rights you may have.

3. Cancellation Before Grading Begins

If you wish to cancel your order before grading has started, please contact Legacy as soon as possible.

For eligible online consumer orders, you generally have a statutory right to cancel a service contract within 14 days of entering into the contract, subject to applicable exceptions and the rules concerning services started at your express request.

Where you exercise a valid statutory cancellation right before services have commenced, we will issue any refund required by law.

If you request cancellation outside the statutory cancellation period but before grading begins, we may agree to cancel your order.

Any cancellation charges applied outside your statutory rights will be reasonable, proportionate and limited to costs or losses we are lawfully entitled to recover.

If your items have already been received, any applicable return shipping arrangements will be confirmed before they are dispatched.

4. Cancellation After Processing Has Begun

Our grading services involve specialist inspection, authentication, condition assessment, preparation and encapsulation.

Where you have expressly requested that we begin providing services during your statutory cancellation period, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services supplied before you notify us of your decision to cancel.

Where the service has been fully performed following the required express request and acknowledgement, your statutory right to cancel may be lost.

Once the applicable cancellation period has expired, cancellation of work already performed is not ordinarily available merely because you have changed your mind.

Any refund or cancellation request will be assessed according to the work completed, the applicable contractual terms and your statutory rights.

This does not affect your right to a remedy where our services have not been performed with reasonable care and skill or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.

5. Custom Artwork Labels and Encapsulation

Legacy provides custom artwork labels and encapsulation as part of its applicable grading services.

These processes may involve preparing artwork, producing labels, manufacturing or allocating materials and permanently encapsulating submitted items.

Once customisation or encapsulation has begun, cancellation may involve charges for work already completed where permitted by law.

The fact that a service includes custom artwork or encapsulation does not automatically remove any statutory cancellation rights applicable to the grading service.

Any separate purchase of genuinely personalised goods will be subject to the cancellation rules applicable to those goods.

6. Counterfeit, Altered or Ineligible Items

Legacy reserves the right to refuse grading or authentication where an item is reasonably determined to be counterfeit, altered, trimmed, rebacked or otherwise ineligible for the service requested.

Where an item is rejected, we will explain the reason for the decision where reasonably practicable.

If authentication, inspection or other chargeable work has already been performed, the applicable charges may remain payable in accordance with the agreed service terms and applicable law.

Any refund for work not performed will be assessed according to the circumstances and your statutory rights.

Rejected items will ordinarily be returned to the customer using the agreed shipping arrangements.

Legacy will not knowingly dispose of a customer’s property without appropriate authorisation or another lawful basis.

Legacy does not guarantee the authenticity or market value of an item merely because it has been submitted for assessment.

7. Grading Results and Professional Opinion

All grades and subgrades issued by Legacy represent our professional opinion of an item’s condition at the time of grading.

Our grading process considers the relevant condition characteristics of the submitted item.

For trading cards, these may include centring, corners, edges and surface condition.

For comic books, these may include cover condition, spine, corners, edges, interior pages and structural condition.

Grading is inherently judgement-based, and different grading companies or assessors may reach different conclusions.

A difference of opinion concerning a grade does not, by itself, establish that the grading service was performed incorrectly.

The following do not automatically qualify a submission for a refund:

  • Disagreement with an assigned grade or subgrade.
  • A different grade awarded by another grading company.
  • A change in an item’s market value.
  • An item receiving a lower grade than the customer anticipated.
  • A customer changing their mind after grading has been completed.

However, where there is evidence that our services were not performed with reasonable care and skill or otherwise failed to meet applicable legal requirements, we will investigate and provide any remedy required by law.

8. Turnaround Times

Our standard published grading turnaround is currently estimated at 12–35 working days, unless a different timeframe is stated for the service purchased.

Turnaround times are estimates and are not guaranteed unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Delays may occur due to submission volumes, public holidays, courier disruption, equipment maintenance, additional authentication requirements or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We will take reasonable steps to complete submissions within the applicable estimated timeframe and keep customers informed of significant delays.

A delay does not automatically entitle a customer to compensation merely because an estimated turnaround date has passed.

However, where a service is not completed within an expressly agreed deadline or, where no binding deadline applies, within a reasonable time, customers retain any remedies available under applicable law.

9. Shipping and Courier Responsibility

9.1 Incoming Shipments

Legacy provides authorised shipping labels and shipping instructions for customer submissions in accordance with the service purchased.

Customers must package their items securely and follow the shipping instructions provided by Legacy.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate submission information and ensuring that their items are appropriately packaged before collection or dispatch.

Where shipping is arranged by Legacy, responsibility for loss or damage will be assessed according to the applicable shipping agreement, the circumstances of the shipment and relevant law.

Legacy will assist with investigating any reported loss or damage involving shipping arranged through our authorised services.

We are not responsible for loss or damage caused solely by inadequate packaging supplied by the customer, except to the extent that we are legally responsible.

9.2 Outgoing Shipments

Completed submissions will be returned using our authorised shipping arrangements.

Tracking information will be provided where applicable.

Legacy will take reasonable care when packaging items for return and arranging dispatch.

Where a return shipment is lost, damaged or delayed, we will investigate the matter with the relevant courier.

Responsibility for loss or damage will be determined according to the applicable contract and relevant law.

Dispatching an item does not automatically exclude any responsibility Legacy may have for its safe return.

9.3 Unauthorised Shipping

Customers must not use alternative shipping arrangements without obtaining approval from Legacy where our service requires the use of an authorised shipping label.

Where a customer independently arranges shipping without our authorisation, responsibility for the shipment will be assessed according to the circumstances and applicable law.

Any additional costs caused by unauthorised shipping arrangements may be recoverable where permitted by law.

10. Lost or Damaged Items

Legacy takes the security and handling of customer submissions seriously.

If an item is reported lost or damaged while in our possession or during shipping arranged by Legacy, we will investigate the circumstances.

Our investigation may include:

  • Reviewing submission and intake records.
  • Examining photographs taken during processing.
  • Reviewing relevant handling and grading records.
  • Investigating the circumstances of the reported damage.
  • Contacting the relevant courier where applicable.

Where Legacy is responsible for loss or damage, we will assess an appropriate remedy in accordance with the applicable contract and relevant law.

Any assessment of an item’s value may take into account its documented condition before submission, purchase records, relevant market evidence and other reasonably available information.

We do not guarantee that an item will achieve a particular grade or future market value.

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes liability for loss or damage where doing so would be unlawful.

11. Discounts, Promotions and Affiliate Submissions

All submissions made using promotional codes, affiliate discounts, bulk pricing or approved shop rates remain subject to this Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Discounted pricing does not remove or reduce any statutory rights.

Approved affiliates submitting items on behalf of their customers must comply with our Affiliate Programme Terms & Conditions and applicable grading service terms.

Where an affiliate is authorised to accept customer submissions, the affiliate is responsible for clearly communicating its own charges, handling arrangements and contractual responsibilities to its customers.

Any refund relating to an affiliate’s independently charged handling fees must be addressed in accordance with the agreement between the affiliate and its customer and applicable law.

Business-to-business submissions may be subject to separately agreed commercial terms where legally permitted.

12. Refusal of Service

Legacy reserves the right to refuse or cancel submissions where there are reasonable grounds to do so.

This may include circumstances involving:

  • Fraudulent or misleading submission information.
  • Suspected stolen or unlawfully obtained items.
  • Counterfeit or ineligible items.
  • Threatening, abusive or harassing behaviour.
  • Unauthorised middleman grading submissions.
  • Misuse of affiliate accounts or discount codes.
  • Fraudulent payment activity.

Where Legacy cancels a submission, any refund will be assessed according to the services already provided, the reason for cancellation, the applicable contractual terms and relevant law.

We will not withhold a refund or refuse a legitimate complaint solely because a customer has exercised a statutory right.

13. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks

If you believe a payment has been taken incorrectly or that you are entitled to a refund, please contact Legacy so we can investigate the matter.

We will review genuine payment disputes and refund requests fairly.

Where a chargeback is raised, we may provide the payment provider with relevant transaction records, order information, submission records and evidence of services performed.

Legacy reserves the right to challenge chargebacks that we reasonably believe are fraudulent or unsupported.

Nothing in this policy prevents customers from exercising their lawful rights to dispute payments or seek remedies through their payment provider.

14. Refund Processing

Where a refund is approved or required by law, we will process it without undue delay.

Refunds arising from a valid statutory cancellation will be processed within the applicable legal timeframe, ordinarily within 14 days of receiving the cancellation notice.

Where a refund is due under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, it will be provided within the applicable statutory timeframe.

Refunds will ordinarily be issued to the original payment method unless the customer expressly agrees otherwise.

We will not impose a refund administration fee where doing so would be prohibited by law.

Any lawful deductions will be explained to the customer.

15. UK Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Refund & Cancellation Policy affects your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Where applicable, customers are entitled to have services performed with reasonable care and skill.

If our services do not meet the applicable legal requirements, customers may be entitled to repeat performance, a price reduction or another remedy available under law.

Any contractual limitation or exclusion in this policy applies only to the extent permitted by law.

16. Limitation of Liability

Legacy does not guarantee the future market value, resale price or investment performance of any submitted item.

We are not responsible for market fluctuations or differences between our grading opinions and those of other grading companies.

We are not liable for losses caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control, except where applicable law or our contractual obligations provide otherwise.

Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Failure to exercise reasonable care and skill where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Any other limitation of liability will apply only to the extent permitted by law.

17. Changes to This Policy

Legacy may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy to reflect changes to our services, business operations or legal obligations.

The latest version will be published on our website with its effective date.

Any changes will not retrospectively remove statutory rights or contractual rights that have already arisen.

18. Governing Law

This Refund & Cancellation Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.

Nothing in this policy restricts a consumer’s right to bring proceedings in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
